I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
How to do it...
The first step to learning something is to simplify it. Therefore, we will select only one instance of an object and work with it. Follow these steps to get started:
- Get all of the processes. Select only the name, ID, working set, and the start time, pick the fifth process in the list, and assign it to a variable:
PS> $Process = (Get-Process | Select-Object Name, Id, WS, StartTime)[4]
- Let's say that we did not like the names of the properties in the object. Let's change the names:
PS> $CustomProcess = New-Object -TypeName PSObject -Property @{ ProcessName = $Process.Name ProcessId = $Process.Id WorkingSet = $Process.WS StartedAt = $Process.StartTime}PS> $CustomProcess
