I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
How it works...
Working with cmdlets is simple. There are two kinds of parameters: named and positional.
Positional parameters work based on the position. They are programmed in such a way that PowerShell understands their logical sequence and performs its actions. For instance, when moving items, the general way of working is to call the command and pass the source first and then the destination.
Therefore, the following would mean that you want to move the GitHub directory to Code:
PS> Move-Item /home/ram/Documents/GitHub /home/ram/Documents/Code/
Many PowerShell cmdlets are programmed to understand this.
Named parameters, on the other hand, are to be called by name. Help text shows them without any brackets surrounding them. Calling ...
