I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
How to do it...
The following instructions explain how to connect to an AWS Linux instance using the SSH client from the PowerShell console:
- To get the instance details, run the Get-EC2Instance command:
PS> Get-EC2Instance -Region us-east-2
- While launching the instance, download the private key file.
- Use the chmod command to make the private key file publicly viewable:
# chmod 400 ./Downloads/linuxdemo.pem
- Use the ssh command to connect to the instance. You must specify the private key (linuxdemo.pem) and that ec2-user is the default user to access the Linux machine:
# ssh -i "./Downloads/linuxdemo.pem" ec2-user@ec2-18-191-134-57.us-east-2.compute.amazonaws.com ...
