After the fault is rectied, the K1 and K2 bytes of nodes C and D again
change their values to convey to each other of the new development. This
causes both the nodes to enter into a wait to restore (WTR) state. (WTR: When
a link fails and the trafc is transferred on the protection link through APS,
the trafc is not transferred back on the working link instantaneously on the
restoration of the fault. This is because during the process of fault restora-
tion, there may be intermittent small periods of “fault” and “no fault” situ-
ations due to rectication work in progress. Thus, a small period of nearly
