After the fault is rectied, the K1 and K2 bytes of nodes C and D again
change their values to convey to each other of the new development. This
causes both the nodes to enter into a wait to restore (WTR) state. (WTR: When
a link fails and the trafc is transferred on the protection link through APS,
the trafc is not transferred back on the working link instantaneously on the
restoration of the fault. This is because during the process of fault restora-
tion, there may be intermittent small periods of “fault” and “no fault” situ-
