I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Take the Big Picture View
Problem: You get bogged down in the details and lose sight of what’s going on in the rest of the community.
To know what’s going on, you have to look at the big picture. Don’t look at the trees when there’s a whole forest to see. When you’re an effective program manager, the details rarely matter.
At first glance, you might think that program management is like project management, but on a larger scale. You’re not wrong, but that’s not fully right. Many of the skills you use in managing projects apply to managing programs. I might even go as far as saying you can’t be a good program manager unless you understand project management first.
