If you’re lucky, your new process is perfect on the day you roll it out. It meets all of the goals and everyone loves it. But even a perfect process will become imperfect over time. The world around you constantly changes.
Technology shifts, changing people’s preferences and what is possible. SourceForge used to be the place for hosted software releases and version control. Now GitHub is the default for many developers. In many communities, mailing lists are being supplanted by Discourse, and Internet Relay Chat is being dropped in favor of richer chat protocols. What works for your community today may be painfully archaic in a few years.
