You’ve now learned about the importance of clearly defining the problem and the proposed solution. You have a clear understanding of the difference between having a voice and getting a vote. Now you’re ready to make good decisions in your community. Even if the decision itself turns out to be wrong, you know that you followed the right process to make it.
You may have noticed we didn’t discuss governance structures. That’s generally not up to the program manager, although you can have influence, particularly early in a community’s formation. The Red Hat blog[8] and Karl Fogel’s Producing Open Source Software [Fog17] have excellent discussions of project governance models if you want to explore the topic more.
