When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Retrospective
Meetings are a challenge in global, community-driven projects, but they provide a lot of value to your community when done well. To have an effective meeting, you need to plan it well. Schedule it at a time that maximizes participation on a platform that doesn’t exclude contributors. Develop an agenda in advance (and cancel the meeting if you don’t have one!). Run the meeting with an eye toward making sure everyone understands the process and has an opportunity to participate. And, finally, follow up after the meeting to share the notes and any action items.
If that sounds like a lot of work, it is. But the work you put into meetings will directly impact what your community gets out of them.
