Retrospective
Congratulations! You made it to the end of the release cycle and now it’s time to ship the release. No, I really mean it this time. You set up the frameworks to determine when the code and the team are ready. You decided to ship the release. Now it’s in the hands of your users. Your hard work has paid off.
Now that the release is out the door, take some time to reflect on how things went. What could you—both “you” as in “my dear reader” and “you” as in “the contributor community”—have done better? What got overlooked or ignored? Take your plans and tweak them for the next time. And don’t forget to celebrate the things that went well. You saw all of the flaws and missteps, but most people only see the successful release.
