One of the more challenging aspects of any leadership role in an open source project is the act of making a decision. Open source communities work in the open and have many different viewpoints to balance. You’re not going to make everyone happy, but following a predictable and fair decision-making process can help you avoid making the community angry.
You make hundreds of decisions a day, mostly without thinking about them. You decide what to have for lunch, which email to reply to first, what to name the iterator in your for loop, and so on.
