Personal or professional development often requires a leap of faith and a commitment to trying new and unaccustomed behaviors. Fundamental to a client’s readiness to take this leap is his belief in his capacity to be successful. A client may hold in his mind a picture of failure, of the dire consequences of not doing something well. If this is the dominant image in his mind, then indeed failure is more likely. It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy.
