Taskbar
Synopsis
TheTaskbar not only holds the Start menu button, but provides rudimentary control over running applications. See also Taskbar Notification Area, later in this chapter, and Task Manager in Chapter 4.
- Taskbar, group buttons by application
Control Panel → Taskbar and Start Menu → Taskbar tab → Group similar Taskbar buttons
(This setting only has meaning with applications, like word processors that can open more than one document window simultaneously, and is configured to display those windows as separate buttons on the Taskbar.)
- Taskbar, hide when not in use
Control Panel → Taskbar and Start Menu → Taskbar tab → Auto-hide the Taskbar
- Taskbar, keep on top of other windows
Control Panel → Taskbar and Start Menu → Taskbar tab → Keep the Taskbar on top of other windows
- Taskbar, move to a different screen location
Click on an empty portion of the Taskbar and drag
- Taskbar, prevent moving and resizing
Control Panel → Taskbar and Start Menu → Taskbar tab → Lock the Taskbar
Right-click on Taskbar → Toolbars → Lock the Taskbar

Drag the border of the Taskbar to make it larger or smaller
