Shooting a Bull’s-Eye
Most people know the word bull’s-eye as a shooting term. In photography, bull’s-eye is a composition
term meaning that you placed the subject right in the very center of the image. For wedding photogra-
phy, this is usually a bad quality, because the subject of most of our images is a person — and specifi-
cally, the eyes of that person. If you place the eyes in the middle of the image, as in Figure 5-8, you tend
to have a lot of wasted space above the head, and not enough room down lower to show what was really
going on in the scene. If you accidentally shoot a bull’s-eye image, you can often improve it with some
cropping; however, it is better to make the best use of your image space. Of course, there will be many
exceptions where you may intentionally want to place the subject in the center. In Figure 5-9, the domed
