CHAPTER
Jazzing Up the
Reception
A
fter the ceremony and the formal pictures are all done, everyone can breathe a deep sigh of relief.
The groom grabs a beer, the bride grabs a glass of wine, and someone shouts, “Let the party begin!”
During the hours that follow, you have few responsibilities with only a couple of “must have” shots to
capture. There are shots of the food, the first dance, the cake cutting, and the garter and bouquet tosses.
Other than that, you have free reign to photograph whatever you find interesting. You may discover a
unique portrait opportunity that you can talk the bride and groom into, or you might spend hours wan-
dering the dance floor trying to capture that elusive perfect dance shot. Whatever you find yourself pho-
tographing during the reception, it is certain to be the most enjoyable part of the average wedding day.
