CHAPTER
Documenting the
Ceremony
T
he ceremony can easily be considered the pinnacle of every wedding day. Months of preparation
lead up to this one moment and yet, when it actually happens, it seems to go by so fast that I often
find myself standing there thinking, “Is that it? Is that all of it?” As the photographers, we may very well
be the only ones in the house wishing it would last longer. Thankfully, most weddings follow a very pre-
dictable sequence of events that seldom varies within the U.S. Granted each religion has a few different
traditions here and there but for the most part, an experienced wedding photographer can easily manage
to be standing in exactly the right spot at exactly the right time to catch the most important events.
