With the skilled touch of a good graphic designer, each page has a layout that looks like it could have

come straight from the pages of a coffee table art book or even a fashion magazine. The design styles are

very modern, and the albums themselves are actually real hard-bound books. The pages are often

printed on thick watercolor papers with long-lasting inkjet printers, before being assembled with tradi-

tional bookbinding methods.

The Design Stage

Many photographers design and build the album page layouts themselves. Others hire skilled Photoshop

users to do the task on salary. Still others farm out the task to a skilled graphic design artist. Several

com), offer a complete service including graphic design, sending out customer proofs, printing, and bind-

ing (see Figures 16-6 and 16-7).
