Writeable optical disks are a type of storage media that allows users to record data onto a disk using optical technology.

Writeable optical disks, such as CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray disks, come in two main formats: +R and -R (Dash R).
The “R” stands for “recordable” and the data can only be written once. Once data is written onto these disk, it cannot be altered or erased.
