To convert your hex number, reading from right to left you mark the hex number 1, 16, 256, 4096... These are called place values.
Lets convert 5DC16 to decimal.
First, write out your hex place values like this:

Underneath, write down your hex number (shown in red below). Remember D16 is 1310 and C16 is 1210. So we write the number in like this:

Now, multiply each number you wrote down by the place value above it.
Add the results of the multiplications together.
5DC16 = 150010
