The OSI 7 Layer Model is a conceptual framework used to describe the functions of a computer network and is split into seven different layers: Physical, Data Link, Network, Transport, Session, Presentation, and Application. Each layer handles a different part of the communication.

A layer serves the layer above it and is served by the layer below it.
