The Internet
The Internet is a global system of interconnected computer networks linked together using the TCP/IP protocol, and evolved from a research project to develop a robust, fault-tolerant communication network back in the 1960s, known as ARPANET.
Today, you can connect to the Internet in a variety of different ways. Many of today’s Internet Service Providers offer a DSL, Cable or Fibre Optic connection to the Internet, depending on where you are.
In this section, we’ll take a look at some of the most common methods and their basic setups.
We’ll also take a look at some of the WiFi options and basic Internet protocols.
