It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Embedded graphics are taboo with most print-
ers and service providers. If you don’t believe
that, call one and ask if you can embed all your
graphics in your next InDesign job and they’ll
pass out right there on the spot. Luckily, if you
or someone else has embedded graphics in
a document you can select the graphic, go to
the Links palette (under the Window menu)
and choose Unembed File from the fl yout
menu. InDesign even gives you the choice
of relinking to the original image or to a new
folder that it will create containing the unem-
bedded graphic(s).
