Ruler guides can be a blessing
and they can be a pain. That’s
why there’s an option to hide
them. However, manually hiding
ruler guides and then showing
them can be frustrating too. In
most cases you want to see the guides when you’re zoomed in and not when you’re
zoomed out. You can control that “threshold” just like you can for the Baseline Grid (see
previous tip). Before you drag out your guides, choose Ruler Guides from the Layout
menu and change the View Threshold to 100%. Now when you drag new guides onto the
page, they will be visible only when you’re zoomed in to
