It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Multiple A records (RRSets)
The destination of the apex alias might turn out to be an RRSet of multiple A records functioning as a round-robin. Your middleware has to be prepared to receive a multiple-hostname result for a single apex alias lookup and be able to store them all as multiple A records.
