Typo domains
Another decision that you will have to incorporate into your strategy is what to do about obvious typos of your domains. Defensively securing misspellings and typos of your portfolio will, again, boost the complexity of the portfolio itself an order of magnitude. (Think about trying to defend your mark in all TLDs with all possible typo variations, it becomes impractical very quickly).
Here are some examples of obvious typos: We're easyDNS, so we have easydsn.com; it is a common typo to make. We do this because it brings in traffic from our own user base that may commonly make this typo. It makes sense because it contributes directly to usability.
Contrast with a typo that will rarely if ever be made: easydsn.biz. Who cares? ...
