Anatomy of a DNS lookup
The full loop of a DNS lookup occurs when a query is originated by a resolver and, after traveling through the DNS hierarchy discussed previously, receives a response from the authoritative nameserver responsible for the resource record being queried.
Resolvers send packets with questions, and authoritative servers send back packets with responses.
