Networks that directly connect to the Internet must have an IP address
assigned to them by the Network Information Center (InterNIC) or some other
authority. Businesses usually get these addresses from their Internet Service
Provider (ISP).
The current addressing scheme, IP version 4 (IPv4), uses an address with
32 bits, expressed as four decimal numbers between 0 and 255. For example,
