It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Mobile IP Adoption Considerations
Mobile IP lets network users move from one Internet connection point to
another without disrupting application connectivity. Conventional IP, without
Mobile IP activated, can only send packets to a fixed IP address in one place. It
does not support mobile networking. Although it is not yet widely deployed,
Mobile IP has great potential for transparent, uninterrupted business
communications for workers who want to move between wireless LANs
