To help close that gap, three basic Metro Ethernet services are currently
available from service providers in early deployment (shown in Figure 9-6). These
services continue to be refined by the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) and its
member companies:
•Ethernet Relay Service (ERS)—The Ethernet equivalent of Frame
Relay and ATM, this is used for point-to-point connections between two
