OSI
Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) is another protocol model. It too is
constructed of network protocols that are layered on top of one another. The OSI
reference model was introduced in the 1990s to serve as a standard for data
network design and product interoperability capabilities. It is made up of seven
layers, each of which describes a specific aspect of the communications process.
