Centrex
Centrex is a switching service that provides companies with telephone lines
that have capabilities similar to those offered on a PBX or key telephone system.
Unlike a PBX or KTS, however, Centrex does not depend on call-processing
equipment being located on the customer premises. Instead, equipment is housed
at a service provider’s local point of presence, and companies subscribe to a
service. Centrex differs from basic business lines in that it typically has an average
