When I teach photographers shooting DSLR or mirrorless cameras how to location scout in a city, I tell them two things: (1) Start your day in any city with a two-hour tour of the city. Those tours hit all the major spots, so you’ll see which sights are currently under renovation and covered in scaffolding (so you can sleep in tomorrow, instead of heading to that opera house at dawn), and you’ll find cozy spots, interesting shots, and places you’ll want to go back to shoot that weren’t already in your plans.
