The feature that controls the overall brightness of your photo is the Exposure slider, and you get to it by tapping on a photo in the Photos app, tapping Edit at the top right, and then in the row of edit icons right below your photo, swiping over to the second one (the one whose icon has a tiny + [plus sign] and – [minus sign] inside it); that’s the Exposure slider (well, that’s the slider directly below the icons—it looks like a series of vertical lines).
