Brightening the Face, So It’s the Focal Point

We know from numerous studies over the years that the brightest thing in a photo is the first thing our eye is drawn to. If you’re shooting a portrait, the photo is about your subject, and that’s why for every portrait I shoot, I subtly brighten my subject’s face to make sure the viewer’s eye is drawn right where I want them to look. In the Lightroom app, you can literally “paint” light over your subject’s face and that does the trick nicely. On Lightroom’s All Photos screen, tap on the photo you want to edit, then in the row of edit icons at the bottom, tap on the Selective icon. Tap the blue button ...
