What to Do with Their Hands

I’ll bet you’ve already experienced this firsthand: people don’t know what to do with their hands, so they become very aware that they look awkward, and they probably do look awkward because (say it with me) “they don’t know what to do with their hands.” Easy fix—give them something to hold. Basically, it’s a prop, something they can hold that will make them look and feel more comfortable. This can be anything from a purse to a cup of coffee, from a pet (well, a small pet) to a glass of wine, just something that will keep their hands busy, so they’ll stop thinking about them and what they’re not doing.
