Another pro technique for getting better window light portraits is to move your subject behind the window, so they’re not getting any direct light whatsoever. Just stand them in front of the window, and then have them walk backward a few steps until they’re no longer standing in front of the glass, but behind it. The light back there is non-direct, soft, and diffused, and you can make some beautiful portraits there. If you want even softer, more beautiful light, combine window light techniques #1 and #2 by moving them 6 feet or so away from the window, and then moving them behind the window. Aw, man, ...
