Letting bloggers know that you're reading their content can be useful for several reasons. The immediate benefit is that the author you are communicating with can see that you read the story and have taken an interest in what they have to say.

Most importantly, however, your interaction with a blog or website can speak great volumes about your brand. It will allow others to gauge how well you understand different topics and how you can handle direct comments and criticism from people with whom you may not normally interact.
