52. How Do Facebook “Likes” Help Me?
Facebook likes are the simplest way for a user to interact with others on Facebook. Rather than having to comment on a post, users can just click the Like button and indicate that they find the post useful in some way. It's a form of commitment that allows users to still somewhat keep a distance while indicating their approval of a comment or update.
On Facebook, the more that your page is interacted with, the more your posts will be seen on user newsfeeds. As the number of people engaging with you grows, so does your exposure to new potential fans. The greater or more influential the user that interacts with your brand already is, the greater the impact on your Facebook engagement statistics and more likely your post will show up more frequently on the newsfeeds. This act of spreading information from fan to potential fan is the viral aspect of Facebook that brands are so drawn to (see Figure 7-8). It's this potential of tapping into the external connections that your established foundation network already has that excites brands and moves them to develop a strong Facebook presence.
