My Career Life Is Symptomatic of Our Business Communication Challenges

My whole academic and career life has been dotted with complex subject matter and the different approaches to get “the point” across. Of course, in the 30-plus years since graduating with a college diploma in mechanical engineering technology, I never really came to terms with the importance of communication until later in life. Now I see the pattern.

Like many of us, I felt it was something that one lives with and does the best he can with the tools and techniques available. But writing a book like this certainly puts one into a reflective spirit, and with the benefit of 20/20 hindsight, I can see the writing on the wall that modern visual solutions through the information design discipline was what was needed. In my defense, for the bulk of my career, they simply had not matured enough. Now they have.
