It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Shared disk storage
The tablespace containers used to store data must be available to all members. A General Parallel File System (GPFS) is used to manage shared disk storage, which is then mounted on each member server defined to the cluster. This includes SYSCATSPACE, SYSTEM TEMP, and USER TABLESPACES.
