I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
The system control authority (SYSCTRL)
This authority allows a user to perform the following maintenance and utility operations at instance and database levels, but does not allow direct access to data:
- Update a database, node, or distributed connection services (DCS) directory (by cataloging/un-cataloging databases, nodes, or DCS databases)
- Modify the parameter values in one or more database configuration files
- Force users off the system
- Create or drop a database
- Create, alter, or drop a table space
- Make a backup image of a database or a table space
- Restore an existing database by using a backup image
- Restore a table space by using a backup image
- Create a new database from a database backup image
