The Making of Wigs
The cap or base of a wig is called the wig foundation and onto this the hair is knotted, if it is a man-made wig, or sewn, if it is machine made. Around the circumference of the wig the foundation must be firm and fitted with more accuracy. This is mainly where the wig will be anchored with grips to the head, although there may be some grips used on the crown.
For media work man-made, natural hair wigs are mostly used. Wooden blocks are used to make the foundations, and these come in different sizes.
