Blocking a Wig
It is extremely important to block a wig, i.e. secure it on a specially shaped block, whenever it is not being used. To do this, a malleable block is used, which is a firm block filled with sawdust and covered in cotton. Blocks are available in various sizes to suit different wig sizes. It is important that the hair lace is not stretched.
The block keeps the shape of the wig but also protects the wig and hair lace while the wig is being dressed. The wig is placed on the block, making sure that it is sitting straight and lies neatly.
