Modelling

For making small prostheses, use a plaster of Paris or plastic mould of a face or body part to model the wound, scar or other prosthesis in plasticine or modelling material. Good quality clay can also be used but it must be kept very damp. Keep the clay tightly enclosed in a polythene or plastic bag until the modelling is completed. The modelling should also be left covered with a damp cloth so that it doesn’t dry out. Once finished, it can be left to air dry. Plasterline is a very good oil-based modelling material that does not need to dry out. However, some people do not find it so easy to work with.
