In Chapter 14, Chapter 14, I described the development of On Location, a project that got into serious schedule trouble. The same article that described how the project got into trouble also described what it finally took to ship it:
They gathered the team together and produced an excruciatingly detailed accounting of all the work still to be done. They decided they could finish in a bit more than a month, but only by stopping work on the second project and devoting three more programmers to On Location…. Office tensions heated up again, but the process stayed remarkably close to the new schedule. The product—the 30th version circulated internally—finally went to manufacturing. (Carroll 1990)
