Constructing a 3D Solid Model
The simplest way to describe how to produce a solid model is first to construct a sketch or profile of the base shape you want to model. Several different tools in Mechanical Desktop aid you in producing your 3D shape:
Extrusion—The profile is extruded along a linear distance perpendicular to the profile plane.
Lofted Feature—A parametric shape is created from a series of profile sketches defining the cross-sectional shape of the feature at each section.
Revolve—A profile is revolved about an axis of revolution.
Face Split—This tool supplies the capability to split an object's face using either a planar or a projected method to create two parts.
Sweep—A profile is moved along a defined path.
