Low light can also be great, and scenes without
highlights are OK. In many HDR scenes the
beauty happens well below 400 nits!

Backings outside doors and windows must
be controlled in contrast and highlights. In
standard dynamic range and on lm the rule
of thumb was if you lit a backing so that it
is almost about to burst into ames it might
be bright enough! While that might no longer
be true, badly lit or under lit backings (espe-
cially old hand-painted backings) shot in high
dynamic range reveal themselves very quickly.
