Most lm cameras employ a shutter that is basi-

cally half a circle. Shutter angle refers to the amount

of the 360 degree shutter circle that is open. This has

historically been in the neighborhood of 180 degrees

resulting from the nature of the mechanics involved

in alternately shuttling a new frame into the aperture

and then registering that frame for exposure.
