Sometimes the goal posts alone don’t pro-
vide enough information about how an image is
clipped. RED cameras also indicate which color
channels have become clipped (to the right of
the histogram). These indicators appear as a red,
green, and blue dot for each color channel – and
are therefore often referred to as the “trafc lights.”
When a colored light is illuminated, that color
channel contains overexposed areas. If the lights
are not lit, there is no clipping in that channel.
