Archiving a Motion Picture in the Digital Age

The practice of archiving digital motion pic-

tures is not close to achieving an ideal long-term

solution. The current solutions for archiving

movies currently include magnetic LTO tape

(Linear Tape Opensource) developed by a con-

sortium of magnetic media companies, and

The magnetic tape solution is prone to errors

and must be media migrated on a regularly sched-
