Camera Issues

A wise old cinematographer once said, “Fail-

ing to prepare is preparing to fail.” There are

many areas of the technology of digital cam-

eras wherein the cinematographer should have

at least some working knowledge, if not a

thorough understanding. Knowing the issues

and concerns in advance helps us to prepare,

and hopefully by preparing properly, to avert

potential problems or failures down the road.

An understanding of camera issues therefore

seems to me to be essential to the job of the

cinematographer.
